Drain Field Repair in Northwest Arkansas

Drain field repair is for a leach field that is wet, odorous, or no longer accepting water.

What a drain field does

After solids settle in the tank, liquid leaves through the outlet and goes to the drain field, also called a leach field or absorption field. The field is the last treatment step in a conventional system. If solids were never pumped and they leave the tank, they can clog that field. If the field stops accepting water, wastewater can surface in the yard. That is a health problem and it can force a new permit and a new system.

We repair drain fields as part of septic system repair when the damaged part can be repaired instead of replacing the whole system. We recommend only the repair that's necessary, and we'll tell you when a later repair is coming.

Pumping is how solids stay in the tank instead of reaching the field. If a pump-out shows signs of a wet field, the next step is drain field repair. We work out of the Rogers shop and the Bentonville office, and we're licensed in Arkansas (AR Septic Installers 0855111 and AR Septic Tank Pumpers 000042).

Signs the field needs a look

Wet or soggy spots, sewage odors, sewage on the surface, backups into the house, and unusually green grass over the lines are the signs we look for. Slow drains can start in the house and end in the field. Try not to park, pave, or put deep-rooted plants on the field.

Lateral line cleaning is the fix when debris is clogging the line and snaking isn't enough. Drain field repair is the fix when the field itself is failing. Pumping keeps solids in the tank so they don't reach the field. If you're buying the house, start with a septic inspection so the field is checked before closing.
