Pumping your septic tank is an integral part of being a responsible septic system owner because it keeps your system running efficiently and effectively, thus reducing the likelihood of expensive repairs.
Are you aware of how often your septic tank must be pumped? The answer will vary with your situation, but generally any tank should be pumped everywhere from one to three years or so. Don’t wait until you start to have problems or notice a smell! Your individual tank pumping schedule will be determined by its use, size and other factors that our team can help you determine.
STEP (Septic Tank Effluent Pumping) systems need the same attention to the tank plus the pump chamber. We handle filtered pump vault maintenance and repairs on those systems so the effluent pump stays clear.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s 3–5 year range is a reasonable time frame, and a tank should generally be pumped every one to three years or so.
The real-world interval depends on household size, diet, certain medical conditions, whether a garbage disposal is used like a trash can, and what gets flushed. The time-to-pump calculator lists 3.3 years for a 1,000-gallon tank with three people. A 1,000-gallon tank with two people is 5.2 years; with four people, 2.3 years.
If you cannot remember the last pump-out — or the seller of a home cannot tell you — it is time to clean the tank. That is one of the most important things you can do to keep a septic system working.

If you do not have a receipt showing a pump within the last five years, it is time to schedule one. The summer checklist repeats the 3–5 year reminder.
Pump-outs typically include tank pumping, a disposal fee, one back-flush, and a peace of mind inspection.
The crew locates the tank with minimal damage to the property and works to keep cleanup easy and efficient. The peace of mind inspection is a visual check of baffles, signs in the lateral field, and the visible condition of the system — not the formal pass/fail report used in real estate closings.
If the tank lids are buried, locating them can add time. Accessible lids make pumping easier. Covers and risers bring openings to grade for later service.
A metal tank will collapse if it is pumped. Call BBB to replace it, not to pump it.
That is a safety limit, not a scheduling preference. If you are unsure what the tank is made of, say so when you call (479) 271-0058. Repair and installation cover tank replacement when that is the necessary job.
BBB’s repair services can address damage found during pumping before it becomes an emergency.
The same warning signs apply: excessive odor, sewage backup, slow drains, wet spots, alarms, and unusually green grass over field lines. Lateral line cleaning is the option when a line is clogged and snaking is not enough.
Preferred Customer Program members get priority weekday repair with no overtime charges if a problem turns up on a scheduled visit. Program fees start as low as $20 per month.
Yes. The Preferred Customer Program schedules regular pumping according to the agreement so you do not have to remember the interval.
Membership also includes a multi-point checklist at enrollment and at every service, regular maintenance checks, and priority emergency service 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday–Friday with no overtime charges. The Good Neighbor Discount is a separate offer: $25 off when two neighboring households schedule pump-outs together, or $50 off for three or more.
Just Flush is the monthly enzyme treatment — one water-soluble bag flushed monthly — if you want a maintenance additive between pump-outs. It does not replace pumping.

Licensed installers already certified in standard septic systems and advanced treatment also cover this Step System Certified work. Cave Springs, Bethel Heights, and Elm Springs are common examples. The tank still needs a 3–5 year pump-out. The extra work is the pump chamber and vault — that is the filtered pump vault maintenance and repairs piece.
